Renowned as a millennial and historic town, Huangqiao – situated in the county-level city of Taixing, in East China's Jiangsu province – is now also a dynamic place focusing on its modern development.
The Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone is located in the town – the latter providing a deep cultural atmosphere and rich resources to the zone.
The town is estimated to have been established for nearly a thousand years, between the years 1078-1085. Today's Huangqiao ancient town has more than 2,000 well-preserved structures from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties and 26 historical relic protection units, such as the famous Ancestral Temple of the He family.
Nowadays, it is also increasingly a dynamic town. It has taken the initiative to connect to the Yangtze River Delta's advanced areas and to expanding competitive industries, to promote innovation and the integration of high-quality development.
The town has won 16 national awards for being a national key town, a national pilot town of development and reforms and a national eco-friendly town, among others.
What's more, it has developed its musical side with a number of first-rate facilities there. The town has held an international musical instrument festival for four consecutive years.
