Cultural venues in Xinghua city

There are over 230 cultural relics in Xinghua city, a county level city of Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province.

Dongyue Temple Hall, Liyuan Boat Hall, Shangchizhai Pharmacy and other Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasty buildings were constructed with flying eaves and arches, creating exquisite structures.

The four pagodas located in the city center are known as the essence of the city's cultural relics, with 47 plaques hung on them in praise of 82 of Xinghua's historical figures. By the end of 2008, except for seven old plaques, the remaining 40 plaques were re-inscribed by 40 renowned calligraphers with different styles of calligraphy and from various schools, including Zhao Puchu, Qi Gong, Sha Menghai.

In 2019, the Jiangzhuang ruins and the Xinghua Duotian reserve were designated as national key cultural relics protection units. What's more, the Jiangzhuang Ruins, the Zheng Banqiao Former Residence, the Zhao Haixian Mansion, Dongyue Temple Grand Hall and Wansheng Bridge were designated as Jiangsu province's cultural relics protection units. As a result, the city became home to 15 cultural relics protection units.

By the end of 2019, Xinghua had three national cultural relics protection units, 13 provincial units and 77 units at the city level.

Xinghua has rich intangible cultural heritage, with 124 items selected for protection at all levels.

There are three national intangible cultural heritage items, 12 provincial intangible cultural heritage items, 33 Taizhou municipal intangible cultural heritage items and 76 Xinghua municipal intangible cultural heritage items.
