The Jiangsu International Friendship Cities Week for BRI Cooperation kicked off on July 6, gathering representatives of 62 provinces, states and cities from 43 countries that have established sister-city or friendly exchange relations with Jiangsu, via video.

Multiple agreements will be signed during the event to boost international economic trade and cultural collaboration, including a three-year cooperation plan for Jiangsu and Belarus' Mogilev, and a cooperation memorandum between Nanjing and Bandar Seri Begawan.

Jiangsu, located at an intersection of the Belt and Road Initiative, has achieved fruitful results in cooperation with related cities. The week-long event is expected to deepen friendship and exchange between Jiangsu and its sister cities, and offer new opportunities to the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Jiangsu has taken the lead in the country in international sister-city cooperation efforts. It has taken a series of actions to keep close ties with sister cities, including holding activities, training talents and donating epidemic prevention and control materials. To date it has established sister-city relations with 352 provinces, states and cities, and friendly-exchange relationships with 430 others in 64 countries, with the numbers ranking tops in the country.

The Belt and Road Initiative has served as the biggest international cooperation platform with widest coverage over the past eight years. Its joint construction has promoted the significance of building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind among more countries and cities.
