Project construction in the Jiangyan district of Taizhou – the prefecture-level city located in the middle of East China's Jiangsu province – has been stepped up and is now in full swing.

In the 26,000-square-meter intelligent workshop of Taizhou Jingyou New Energy Co Ltd, three automatic production lines as long as 220 meters are currently running at full capacity for the company's 3 gigawatt photovoltaic module plant.

The new plant has a total investment of 1.05 billion yuan ($150 million) and the first module was produced on September 24. Some 140 megawatts of module capacity is expected to be reached within the year, with an output value of 250 million yuan and annual sales of 160 million yuan.

"The actual construction time of our project is less than five months, which will break a new record in the industry," said Wang Yunxin, general manager of the company.

This year, Jiangyan district started 17 new projects over 500 million yuan, with a total planned investment of 14.2 billion yuan, completing 131 percent of the annual plan.

From January to October, the district's industrial invoiced sales reached 72.93 billion yuan, for a year-on-year increase of 11 percent.
