Taizhou city eyes progress of technology trade deals

A raft of 11 technology import and export contracts were registered in the first half of the year at the commerce bureau of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – according to the local authorities.

The bureau said the value of the new contracts was $9.82 million, reflecting growth rates of 34.2 percent, compared with the same period last year. In fact, the data has broken records over the last three years.

In the wake of the vigorous development of the city's industrial system and specialist industry clusters, there has been further progress made more recently.

Since the start of the year more enterprises of a larger scale and with higher-level technologies – as well as with strong internal driving forces for technology and intellectual property imports and exports – have emerged, an official with the commerce bureau said.

The health industry, in particular, has shown robust growth in the technology imports and exports business. This was expected to further improve the technological strength and competitiveness of Taizhou's health enterprises, the official added.

Some local technology exporters have set the bar high – with one electronics product manufacturer in Taizhou going global in tandem with its heavyweight corporate customer Samsung, when the latter opened a new factory in Vietnam.

The municipal government of Taizhou has streamlined the procedures for those enterprises applying for technology imports and exports registration – through paperless approvals and instant reviews of submitted materials.

Moving forwards, plans are for the city to further improve its services and strive to create a better business environment for technology importers and exporters.
