Taizhou's technology import and export reached a new milestone in the first half of 2023, according to the Taizhou Bureau of Commerce.

The city witnessed an increase of 57.14 percent and 34.2 percent in the number and filing amount of its technology import and export contracts respectively compared to the same period last year. The combined value of these contracts was $9.82 million, the highest in nearly three years.

This significant growth can be attributed to the dynamic development of Taizhou's "one industrial system and four characteristic industrial clusters", which has led to the emergence of numerous large-scale enterprises that have higher technological levels and robust capabilities in technology and intellectual property import and export.

The number of recorded import and export of technologies in the city has been growing steadily, said Huang Hongqi, the director of Taizhou bureau of commerce.

Taizhou's industries exhibit several notable features. Firstly, the health industry has been developing rapidly, and this is exemplified by Nestle Health Foods' introduction of advanced food manufacturing technology from its Swiss parent company. This move is expected to enhance the scientific and technological content as well as the market competitiveness of the city's health industry.

Secondly, the non-public economy in Taizhou has displayed strong vitality in terms of technology import and export. Key players in technology import and export, such as Jiangsu Yahong Meditech Co Ltd and Yamaha Corporation, are all private enterprises or foreign-invested firms.

Thirdly, the technology exports of these enterprises are complemented by their investments abroad. For instance, creative electronics has been providing display bracket design services for South Korea's Samsung, and the company has also expanded its presence by establishing supporting factories in Vietnam.

To further encourage high-tech import and export enterprises to apply for record certifications, the municipal bureau of commerce has implemented various measures.

One of the successful initiatives is "streamlining key elements," which includes canceling the foreign legal status requirement for documents certified by embassies and consulates. Instead, enterprises only need to provide translations of electronic documents for recognition.

The adoption of "paperless approval" has significantly improved work efficiency, as enterprises can now upload scanned documents on the system platform without submitting physical copies, thus saving time and resources.

Furthermore, the "instant service" has garnered praise, with the bureau of commerce promptly processing complete and legally compliant information, issuing record certificates on the same day, thereby shortening the processing time from three working days to just one.

With these positive developments and encouraging measures in place, Taizhou's technology import and export sector is poised for further growth and success in the coming years.
