Since its launch and start of operations over a year ago, the integrated port and shipping information system developed by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province has been used at about 400 wharves in the province.

Three versions of the system were designed for ports and shipping enterprises. It can help them conduct and implement precise management in terms of ship scheduling, operations line dynamics and machinery, and weighing machines and personnel, among others.

"Since the operation of the system, 6,000 ships have docked at Taizhou Port and the entry and exit of ships have been processed online in advance," said Sun Wei, director of the business department of Taizhou Port Group Co Ltd.

Sun added that each ship can now save about two hours on average, improving the overall efficiency of port turnover.

Moreover, the system can also achieve full process management of newly built ships. Some 15 key information nodes for ship construction – including statics business processing and sea trials – can be viewed in real-time.

To date, the Taizhou maritime safety administration has implemented online closed-loop management of the entire construction process for 23 shipyards and 266 newly built ships.
