Construction groups based in the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – are rapidly expanding into international markets.

Resident company Zhengtai Group, for example, recently started construction of the University of Malawi's Confucius Institute in Lilongwe, capital of Malawi.

The southeast African country borders Zambia and China's Ministry of Commerce is providing support for the project.

What's more, Zhengtai Group has received a raft of overseas quality engineering awards for projects elsewhere in Africa. Most notably, their residential project in Zanzibar, Tanzania, is said to have made impressive progress.

Another Jiangyan-based construction company – Jinchen Group – is reported to have achieved success in Chad, Niger and in Benin.

In Chad, the contractor secured a contract for $5.5 million road project. In Niger, a residential project valued at $10 million is progressing well. The company has also signed a new $10.5 million contract in Benin.

In the year to Dec 13, Jiangyan had a total of 17 overseas projects in progress, with a total contract value of $448.5 million. Of this amount, $34.5 million was newly signed this year and a cumulative overseas output value of $95 million had been completed.

Jiangyan is said to recognize the importance of international business development and is actively embracing opportunities from the Belt and Road initiative.

Local authorities are providing increased support and efforts are being made to assist enterprises in studying market trends and participating in investment fairs.
