Spring Festival boosts Taizhou city's tourism

The recent Spring Festival holiday in Taizhou, the prefecture-level city located in East China's Jiangsu province, sparked a big lift in its lucrative cultural and tourism market.

Preliminary statistics showed that Taizhou received a total of 6.02 million visitors during the break, marking a 66 percent increase compared with the same period in 2023 and a 47 percent increase compared with the same period in 2019.

Tourism revenue hit 4.34 billion yuan ($603.2 million) – a 75 percent increase on the same period in 2023 and a 53 percent gain on 2019.

Over the eight-day holiday, the city hosted a wide variety of New Year's activities, including traditional folk experiences, intangible cultural heritage performances, temple fairs, lantern festivals and cultural exhibitions.

All in all, they are said to have offered a festive and unforgettable cultural bonanza for both locals and visitors.
