Taizhou city's tourism thrives during Qingming holiday

The prefecture-level city of Taizhou – located in East China's Jiangsu province – reported a hefty surge in tourism during the recently concluded three-day Qingming holiday.

With 2.52 million visitors and 1.64 billion yuan ($226.7 million) in tourism revenue, the city's attractions were bustling.

Throughout the holiday, retail businesses saw a boost in sales, with monitored businesses raking in 96.56 million yuan. Additionally, five catering and accommodation enterprises generated a combined total turnover of 1.88 million yuan, representing a whopping 91.2 percent increase compared with the previous year.

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Qintong Boat Festival in Jiangyan district drew in big crowds, offering a glimpse into the city's rich folk culture.

Jiangyan district welcomed 617,000 tourists, generating 340 million yuan in revenue. The Qinhu Lake scenic area saw a significant increase in visitors and ticket revenue, with attendees hitting 70,600 and ticket revenue coming in at 4.75 million yuan – marking staggering year-on-year respective increases of 2,029 percent and 3,423 percent.

Since the Xinghua Qianduo Cole Flower Tourism Festival kicked off on March 26, the fields of delightful cole flowers in the Qianduo scenic area  proved to be a huge draw.

Xinghua city received over 650,000 tourists during the break, generating nearly 390 million yuan in revenue, while scenic spots like the Qianduo scenic area attracted over 110,000 visitors.

During the holiday, the Fengcheng River scenic area in Hailing district organized a series of events, creating a cultural and tourism carnival for residents and tourists alike.

Scenic areas such as Meiyuan park, Qiaoyuan park and Wanghai pavilion received nearly 40,000 visitors, while open streets such as the ancient street received nearly 100,000 visitors.

In addition, the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, or Gaogang district, received a total of 144,600 visitors across nine scenic spots. The Memorial Hall of the Birthplace of the People's Navy and the Taizhou Naval Ship Culture Park proved to be hit attractions, welcoming 25,000 visitors over the three days.

This year's Jiangsu Taizhou Zaocha Culture Expo also opened during the holiday, taking place at the same time as the opening of the Laogaoqiao market fair – attracting about 100,000 visitors. Various top zaocha businesses saw sales topping 500,000 yuan during the break.
