The Drone Industry Academy was officially established at Taizhou Technician College on June 4. Starting this fall semester, the school will enroll 30 students in a five-year advanced drone application technology program open to the public.
According to the latest data, China's drone industry is facing a talent shortage exceeding one million people. As intelligent aerial terminals, drones are playing an increasingly vital role across various sectors.
Taizhou Technician College already houses two training facilities: a drone simulation lab and a logistical take-off and landing site. This year, the college plans to build three additional labs focused on drone assembly and maintenance, piloting, and industry-specific applications.
The newly established academy will leverage the school's educational resources and research platforms to develop an integrated model of industry-education collaboration. It will work closely with major enterprises including China Telecom and Phoenix Wings Technology to build a hub for drone education, research, and hands-on training.
The academy will refine its curriculum, provide training for low-altitude logistics roles, and explore the application of drones in areas such as agriculture, urban management, and emergency response. The initiative aims to cultivate highly skilled, versatile professionals who can meet the evolving needs of the drone industry.
