Taizhou secures 120 million yuan in funding to bolster high school infrastructure

Taizhou has received 120 million yuan ($16.75 million) in central budget funding from the National Development and Reform Commission. The funds will go toward the support of major infrastructure projects at three local high schools, reinforcing the city's efforts to prioritize education and promote equitable access to quality high school resources.

The Kouan High School of Jiangsu Province will receive 50 million yuan for its new campus, 20 million yuan will be allocated toward a new teaching building and cafeteria at Taizhou No 2 High School, and the rest will go toward the relocation and reconstruction of Xieqiao High School in Jingjiang.

The Kouan High School of Jiangsu has a total investment of 1 billion yuan. The new 108,700-square-meter campus, expected to open by summer 2026, will offer 3,500 student places, including 900 newly added seats.

According to Zhu Yao, principal of the school, the central funding not only enhances modern teaching facilities but also supports the development of personalized learning systems and well-rounded education.

Taizhou has invested 6.7 billion yuan from 2021 to 2025 to upgrade 27 high schools. It is also piloting comprehensive high schools, expanding vocational-academic integration, and reinforcing teacher recruitment to address subject-specific shortages.

Taizhou's proactive approach ensures its educational infrastructure and policies remain in line with national priorities, laying a strong foundation for high-quality, balanced development across the region.
