Hailing district in Taizhou has been making strides in promoting flexible employment through the creation of a specialized gig worker market. This initiative seeks to address various employment needs and enhance the accessibility and efficiency of job searching.
"We organize targeted job fairs every week, focusing on different groups of people to help them find the right opportunities," said a representative from the Hailing District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
Since its launch in February 2025, the gig worker market has collaborated with organizations like the Disabled Persons' Federation, the Women's Federation, and the Veterans Affairs Bureau to host 24 themed job fairs. These events have supported 204 businesses in the district, introduced numerous job opportunities, and facilitated initial employment agreements for 2,815 individuals.
The market is divided into multiple functional zones that offer one-stop services for job seekers. Besides job matching and policy consultation, the space also directs individuals toward skills training programs, effectively boosting their chances of employment.

The gig worker market is dedicated to safeguarding workers' rights. On the second floor, a dispute mediation room has already settled 16 labor disputes, covering issues like wage arrears, work hour conflicts, and contract disagreements, with an average of less than three working days.
The Hailing district gig market also hosts events like policy briefings and skill workshops. It also provides free one-week accommodation for newcomers, helping job seekers and gig workers feel welcomed and supported.
These efforts are building a more inclusive and responsive employment ecosystem in Taizhou's Hailing district.
