The Taizhou Mei Lanfang Peking Opera Troupe performed a series of classic Peking Opera excerpts at Taizhou People's Park and the Ancient Salt Canal Tourist Center on July 8, 9, and 11 evenings, offering a rich cultural experience for local audiences.
Alongside the performances, a dedicated cultural and creative display area was arranged next to the stage. It featured carefully crafted opera-themed souvenirs like character keychains and stickers, with a finely made phoenix coronet standing out. During intermissions, many audience members took the opportunity to visit the display area and enjoy the distinctive allure of Peking Opera up close.
Before the July 11 performance began, a special public benefit event promoting traditional Chinese medicine was held. Over 40 TCM-themed booths were set up, where well-known doctors offered free consultations, pulse readings, and health advice tailored to each person's body type. The scent of herbal teas and the attractiveness of beautifully made medicinal pastries attracted curious visitors all evening.
"I never expected to enjoy Peking Opera and explore TCM health practices all in one night. This mix of traditional culture and wellness is truly creative," said local resident Li Jie.
The events highlighted Taizhou's ongoing efforts to combine cultural heritage with public health, providing residents with a unique experience that blends artistic enjoyment and health awareness.
