The graduation ceremony for the China-Samoa Vocational Skills Training Center's Python programming course was held at the National University of Samoa on July 10.
The program is based on a skills training cooperation agreement signed in November 2024 between Taizhou Polytechnic College in Taizhou, Jiangsu, and the National University of Samoa. In June, three teachers from the Chinese college traveled to Samoa to conduct a one-month Python programming course. More than 20 participants from Samoa's local government and education sectors attended the training.
Given the different skill levels among trainees, the Taizhou teaching team implemented a flexible, student-focused approach. They created several English teaching plans and tailored the course pace to each student's progress. For more advanced students, the curriculum covered topics such as Python-MySQL integration and database management.
Participants appreciated the instructors' professionalism and dedication, highlighting their patience, clarity, and solid technical skills. Many also mentioned that the program improved their programming abilities and fostered a genuine interest in Chinese culture.
This year celebrates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Samoa. Taizhou is enhancing cooperation in education, culture, and tourism through initiatives like vocational training, donations of energy equipment, and school exchange visits to promote stronger people-to-people ties.
