The 2025 World Robot Conference, recently held in Beijing, drew global attention and put Taizhou's robotics industry in the spotlight.
Keenon Robotics impressed audiences with robots that make popcorn, pour drinks, recognize orders, and imitate human gestures. Its humanoid robot Xman-F1 delivered PowerPoint presentations and demos, striking poses that made it a crowd favorite and viral sensation.
Keenon has become a leader in the global commercial service robot market, with one in four robots from the company. Recognized as an industry unicorn, Keenon established a 20,000-square-meter plant in Jiangyan Economic Development Zone last year, now operational.
Chairman Li Tong said the company will leverage the Yangtze River Delta's industrial strengths, increase R&D, and accelerate humanoid robot commercialization. Its goal is to create a comprehensive robotics ecosystem in Taizhou — including R&D, core manufacturing, assembly, and application — and develop an industrial cluster with an annual output of 5 billion yuan ($701.96 million).
Taizhou fosters a growing robotics community. Aolong Intelligent Technology makes intelligent welding robots used in aviation, shipbuilding, chemical engineering, mining, and construction. Tailong Decelerator Machinery produces four types of high-precision reducers for robot joints, from mobile bases to heavy-duty rotary modules.
This industry momentum is reinforced by strong policy support. Since 2024, Taizhou has added more than 4,600 AI-related talents, encouraged universities to expand AI programs, and hosted skills competitions.
The Jiangyan Economic Development Zone partnered with Harbin Institute of Technology to create the Taizhou Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing, focusing on AI equipment and robot simulation. Taixing High-Tech Zone is expanding its reducer industry into robotics, building R&D platforms, launching incubations and establishing an industry fund, aiming for about 50 million yuan in growth over two to three years.
