17th National College Peking Opera Enthusiasts Gala opens in Taizhou

The 17th National College Peking Opera Enthusiasts Gala opened on Sept 30 and runs until Oct 4, featuring seven performances in total.

As an annual national event for Peking Opera exchanges among college students and a key part of the 2025 Taizhou Mei Lanfang Arts Festival, the gala has attracted over 50 universities submitting 135 high-quality programs.

This year's gala includes 42 vocal performances showcasing the beauty of Peking Opera singing, 52 performances combining costume and stage artistry, and 41 excerpts from classic operas, including masterpieces from various schools. Some universities have also incorporated elements of Kunqu Opera, presenting an innovative Peking-Kunqu crossover.
