More than 100 professionals from across Jiangsu gathered at the Hailing National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park on Oct 25 to compete in the final round of the Jiangsu division of the 5th National Pet Industry Vocational Skills Competition.

The competition featured three categories: pet training, pet grooming, and pet health care. In the training arena, contestants guided dogs to skillfully navigate obstacle courses, resist food distractions, and perform commands such as "sit", "down", and "come".

In the grooming section, participants demonstrated refined techniques by styling poodle models into elegant Lamb Trim designs. Meanwhile, in the pet health care area, competitors carried out medical checks, provided attentive care, and created comfortable living spaces for pets.

Tian Zhen, a sophomore from Jiangsu Agri-animal Husbandry Vocational College, competed with his mixed-breed dog. He said the event was both a test of professional knowledge and a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience.

Winners of the special and first prizes will represent Jiangsu in the national finals. All participants who complete the competition will be eligible to apply for intermediate or advanced vocational skill certificates issued by the China National Light Industry Council.

The Hailing National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park is actively developing its health food and pet products industries. It has already launched projects such as a pet culture park and hosted the WCF International Pedigree Cat Exhibition League.
