Taizhou companies are stepping up their global presence and strengthening their role in international supply chains.

From 2020 to 2024, local enterprises established 119 subsidiaries across 24 countries and regions, with a total Chinese investment commitment of $1.15 billion. This expansion has not only opened up new development space but also elevated the position and competitiveness of Taizhou enterprises in global industrial cooperation.

In 2024, the city's outward direct investment reached $265 million, showing steady year-on-year growth, and is projected to rise to $280 million in 2025.

To date, Taizhou companies have set up 367 overseas enterprises in 55 countries and regions, with cumulative Chinese investment commitments exceeding $3 billion. These investments span the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, with the secondary sector accounting for 45.54 percent of all projects. Another 16.59 percent fall within the service sector, including overseas trading firms and marketing network companies. Asia remains the top destination, attracting 73.91 percent of the city's overseas projects.

To address the talent shortage faced by companies going global, Taizhou is advancing industry-education integration. Taizhou Polytechnic College and Taizhou Technician College are partnering with overseas institutions to support skills development and talent pipelines.

Recognizing the risks inherent in overseas investment, the city provides detailed, practical guidance, from due diligence and legal assistance to personnel safety and coordination with Chinese embassies and consulates.

The Municipal Bureau of Commerce has also organized training sessions on risk prevention for enterprises. Through policy briefings, case studies and surveys, the sessions help firms identify international compliance risks, particularly in sectors such as biopharmaceuticals and advanced manufacturing, and offer tailored solutions to support safer, more sustainable global expansion.
