Taizhou's port sector delivered solid performance in the first three quarters of the year, handling 342 million metric tons of cargo, up 2.1 percent year-on-year.

Foreign trade cargo throughput and container throughput grew even faster, rising 6.8 percent and 5 percent, respectively. Ports along the Yangtze River maintained their strong standing, continuing to rank second in Jiangsu province in total throughput.

Jingjiang Port was a standout contributor. It processed 213 million tons of cargo during the period, a 6.3 percent increase and a record high for the same timeframe. The port's rapid rise has been fueled by major enterprises, with five key bulk commodities, including coal and construction materials, accounting for 94.3 percent of total throughput.

Taizhou's inland ports have emerged as a new growth engine, completing 32.08 million tons of cargo throughput, representing a robust 21.7 percent year-on-year increase.

Green, low-carbon development and smart technology have become defining features of Taizhou's river ports. In the first three quarters, onshore power was used 88,900 times across the port system, with electricity consumption reaching 7.54 million kWh, up 8 percent. At the Shenzhen International terminal, the 80,000-square-meter solar array is expected to generate 12 million kWh annually, cutting carbon emissions by about 12,000 tons.

Digitalization is also lifting operational efficiency. The smart gate system at the Taizhou International Container Terminal has enabled unmanned management, increasing vehicle processing efficiency by 80 percent. At the Shenzhen International terminal, full-process automation in vessel unloading allows staff to oversee operations in real time through an integrated visualization platform.
