Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport surpasses 4 million passengers for first time

As of Dec 20, Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport surpassed 4 million annual passengers for the first time, while cargo and mail throughput also reached record highs.

The airport commenced operations on May 8, 2012. "Thanks to the strong economic growth and favorable environment of Yangzhou and Taizhou, the airport has steadily grown while serving the development of both cities," said Yang Wenxi, chairman of the airport.

Since opening, the airport's annual passenger throughput has grown at an average rate of 25.1 percent, ranking among the fastest-growing airports in China. It has launched 74 domestic and international routes, continuously driving new milestones in passenger and cargo traffic.

The airport has maintained safe and smooth operations for 13 years.

Construction of the airport's second phase is progressing smoothly and is expected to be completed by the second half of next year. Once finished, the airport's capacity will increase to 10 million passengers and 100,000 metric tons of cargo and mail per year.
