In Huzhuang town of Taizhou's Medical High-Tech Zone, Shangshanyuan Taizhou Farm stretches across more than 100 hectares of fertile land. Over 800 greenhouses stand in neat rows, supplying more than 10,000 portions of premium vegetables each day to markets across the Yangtze River Delta, with over half delivered directly to Shanghai.
According to Chen Chuandong, general manager of the farm, the site is the largest and most diverse among the company's five farms nationwide. Free from industrial pollution and blessed with rich soil, the farm is ideally suited for growing leafy greens and root vegetables. Due to its consistently high quality, its produce has become popular among consumers.
In addition to traditional retail channels, the farm has established long-term partnerships with online platforms such as Meituan and Dingdong Maicai, bringing Taizhou's fresh produce to more people. The farm currently serves more than 2,000 people in Shanghai via a subscription-style service. Dedicated coordinators contact members weekly to confirm orders, with vegetables harvested and delivered to their homes the very next day. This convenient model has proven especially popular among elderly consumers in Shanghai.
From the very beginning of the production process, strict organic standards are followed. The farm uses non-GMO seeds, applies organic fertilizers made from animal manure, beneficial microorganisms, and herbal residues, and relies on manual planting, weeding, and harvesting. All produce is packaged with safety-certified materials and tested by authorized institutions, ensuring quality and traceability at every step.
