The seventh premium bonsai exchange event opened on Jan 31 at Gonghan Flower and Bonsai Garden in Hailing district of Taizhou, offering visitors a chance to explore one of China's most refined traditional art forms. The exhibition runs through Feb 14 and is open to the public free of charge.
More than 100 bonsai works are on display, including masterfully crafted works by veteran artists and innovative designs by younger enthusiasts. The exhibition highlights the preservation of tradition while encouraging fresh creative approaches within the centuries-old art form.
Taizhou bonsai, recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage item, is renowned for its distinctive cloud-layer styling, meticulous pruning and wiring techniques, and profound cultural symbolism. These carefully shaped miniature landscapes reflect harmony between nature and human craftsmanship, embodying traditional Chinese aesthetic philosophy.
