Manufacturing clusters power Taizhou's rise as an industrial powerhouse

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of prefecture-level Taizhou. Over the past three decades, the city has built strong momentum in advanced manufacturing, with three industrial clusters — chemical new materials, metal new materials and next-generation information technology — each surpassing 100 billion yuan ($14.7 billion) in output value.

These fast-growing industries have become a key pillar supporting the city's real economy.

In Hailing district, Jiangsu Zhongke Kehua New Materials focuses on semiconductor packaging materials and holds more than 30 patents. Nearby, Taizhou LG Electronics Refrigeration achieved industrial sales of 10.4 billion yuan in 2025 and created jobs for more than 10,000 people.

Jiangsu Gangyang Holding Group has emerged as a leading player in the automotive parts industry. Starting as a small factory producing farming tools in 1958, the company has grown into a hidden champion in aluminum die-casting, with output exceeding 1 billion yuan.

Today, the company supplies core components for high-end motorcycles. Recently, the company's crankshafts and connecting rods were used in ZXMOTO motorcycles, which won two rounds in the middleweight category of the Superbike World Championship (WSBK).

In Xinghua city, Jiangsu Xingda Steel Tyre Cord has become the world's second-largest steel tire cord manufacturer. The company has led the formulation of several international industry standards and maintains a domestic market share of around 30 percent.

Innovation has also driven the success of Shuangdeng Group in Jiangyan district. The company's battery shipments have ranked first globally multiple times.

According to company executives, its competitiveness comes from a long-term commitment to innovation-driven development. The company operates a national-level technology center and an academician workstation and has undertaken more than 100 national-level scientific research projects.
