At the 2026 Digestive Disease Week in the United States, Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group achieved a significant milestone when its product, Biling Weitong Granules, was included in the internationally authoritative Rome V Clinical Criteria and Guidelines.

The product has been recommended as a first-line treatment for functional dyspepsia epigastric pain syndrome (FD-EPS), a subtype of disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI).

DGBI refers to a group of conditions characterized by digestive symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, constipation and nausea, in which no clear structural, infectious or biochemical abnormalities can be detected through routine examinations such as endoscopy, imaging or blood tests.

The Rome V Clinical Criteria and Guidelines update diagnostic definitions for irritable bowel syndrome and expand the scope of DGBI beyond the lower gastrointestinal tract to include upper digestive system disorders. It also marks the first time a traditional Chinese medicine product has been incorporated into its recommended treatment framework, reflecting a more precise and diversified approach to diagnosis and treatment.

Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group has long been engaged in the research and development of innovative therapies for digestive diseases, integrating traditional Chinese medical prescriptions with modern scientific technologies. Biling Weitong Granules is based on a classical traditional Chinese medicine formula and consists of 11 herbal ingredients.
