Taizhou University welcomes in 4,000 freshmen

Nearly 4,000 freshmen arriving at Taizhou University for the 2026 academic year were greeted with more than a registration checklist — the city and campus were ready to make their first day feel like home.

Shuttle buses ran every 30 minutes from the exit of Taizhou Railway Station, taking new students and their families directly to the university gate. On campus, ample parking was available to parents, while student clubs set up booths to welcome newcomers and introduce them to campus life.

Members of the Taiyuan Volunteer Association promoted programs ranging from student assistance to rural teaching initiatives. At the same time, the Intangible Cultural Heritage and Creative Arts Club drew crowds as senior students taught first-year students how to decorate traditional round fans.

For many families, choosing a university is also about choosing a place to spend the next four years. A display outlining the destinations of graduates from the past three years attracted considerable attention from students and parents.

Among them was Bao Yanqi, a 2025 graduate of the university's art education program. "The teachers here are dedicated, the academic atmosphere is strong, and students get along well," Bao said. She also highlighted Taizhou's appeal to young people, citing its supportive policies and broad opportunities for career development.

Having had a rewarding four years at the university, Bao recommended it to her younger cousin. "Choosing this university also means choosing a city that cares about young people and offers them a future," she said.

This year marks the 85th anniversary of Taizhou University. To make the milestone part of the freshmen experience, the university held its first group birthday celebration for students whose birthdays fell on registration day. Sixteen freshmen celebrating their birthdays on Aug 30 joined the celebration.
