Taizhou's cross-border e-commerce sector is experiencing unprecedented growth with trade volume reaching 190 million yuan ($26.16 million) in the first months of 2025, a staggering 30-fold year-on-year increase, setting a new record for the period, according to Taizhou Customs. The city aims to achieve a total volume of 2 billion yuan in cross-border e-commerce this year, according to Geng Xiaoli, the director of the Taizhou Bureau of Commerce.

In 2024, the city allocated over 30 million yuan in funds to support cross-border e-commerce development with nearly 200 cross-border e-commerce businesses have benefited from these initiatives.

This year, Taizhou will host its third Cross-Border E-Commerce Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, featuring investment institutions and brand merchants to explore new growth models. Additionally, the Bureau of Commerce will strengthen risk assessment and response capabilities for traditional foreign trade enterprises venturing online and overseas. In collaboration with local universities, it will offer customized training programs, to supply 1,000 qualified professionals to Taizhou's cross-border e-commerce sector.

Moving forward, Taizhou will focus on four key areas. The city aims to introduce 10 major cross-border e-commerce companies, including platform-based, trade-oriented, and service-oriented enterprises, by 2027. Businesses will receive one-stop services covering registration, marketing, taxation, customs clearance, foreign exchange settlements, logistics, and legal support.

Taizhou also plans to nurture over 1,000 cross-border e-commerce enterprises by 2027 and double the industry's total transaction volume to 3.5 billion yuan. Enterprises are encouraged to build warehouses in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, RCEP member nations, and expand storage facilities in Europe and North America.
