Hailing district in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, has made strides in facilitating the conversion of intellectual property (IP) into tangible assets, providing a boost to local enterprises.

A leading commercial dishwashing equipment manufacturer in Hailing, with over 20 years of expertise, exemplifies this success. The company, known for its innovative solutions in the realm of Chinese dining, has accumulated 197 patents and expanded its market reach to over 40 countries and regions.

Amid a 30 percent surge in peak-season orders, the company faced pressure in securing funds for raw material purchases and new product development. Hailing district's bureau for market regulation swiftly intervened, collaborating with financial institutions and patent service agencies to evaluate the company's IP portfolio.

Four core patents were identified as high-value collateral for a loan, expediting the patent pledge registration process from the usual 15 to just three working days.

This initiative secured 10 million yuan ($1.45 million) in financing for the company, alleviating its financial burden. Furthermore, the bureau provided guidance on applying for interest subsidy policies, potentially reducing financing costs by nearly 150,000 yuan.

In 2025, Hailing district achieved 136 IP pledge financing deals, totaling 2.13 billion yuan, tripling the previous year's figure and benefiting 87 tech firms. This approach underscores the district's commitment to leveraging IP as a catalyst for industrial upgrading and sustainable growth.
