In a bustling workshop at Hailing Industrial Park, workers at Jiangsu Vantek Power Machinery are putting the final touches on compact marine water-cooled variable-frequency silent generator sets destined for Southeast Asia via Shanghai's Yangshan Port.
The journey to this moment began with a casual remark. Founder Yu, a Nantong native who arrived in Taizhou in 2008 after studying foreign trade, had built his business from an 800-square-meter rental into a 4,800-square-meter operation by 2019. During a visit to Southeast Asia a few years ago, a client lamented the steep cost of replacing a broken yacht generator. Yu saw an opening.
Marine units demand far stricter standards for stability, noise control, environmental compliance, size and weight than conventional generators. Yu assembled a research team and spent more than two years developing a product that passed a 2,000-hour durability test and met international benchmarks. Designed for luxury yachts, official vessels and electric boat range extenders, the units operate reliably in harsh maritime conditions at roughly one-third the price of comparable imported models.
The generators feature fully enclosed water-cooled structures, multi-layer noise suppression, corrosion-resistant coatings and anti-vibration mounts. An integrated intelligent control system monitors voltage, oil pressure and water temperature in real time.
Now Vantek Power has secured a 2-hectare plot in Hailing Industrial Park for a 17,000-square-meter facility, set to break ground in September. The expansion will support marine production and a new line of smart generators for artificial intelligence data centers, as Yu aims to establish the company as a domestic benchmark within two years.
