With around 750 kilograms of asparagus sent to large supermarkets and markets in cities like Shanghai and Nanjing every day, the asparagus industry earned nearly 200,000 yuan ($29,098.04) for Sunshe village last year and created over 50 jobs for local farmers.

Sunshe village is located in Baimi town, administered by Jiangyan district, Taizhou city of East China's Jiangsu province.
In recent years, the village has actively adjusted the structure of its planting industry by transferring 200 mu (13.33 hectares) of land to grow asparagus used for both medicine and food.

What's more, it has established farmers' cooperatives for asparagus planting to promote the development of the industry.
Scientific research units including Nanjing Agricultural University and the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences have also provided guidance on planting and commercialization to help the villagers out.
