The Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – has introduced a dozen initiatives aimed at transforming its healthcare services for the local population.

They're expected to reduce waiting times, lower healthcare costs and minimize travel times.

The initiatives are primed to address pressing healthcare needs, focusing on accessibility and affordability.

Key features include door-to-door services, specialized care for the elderly, guidance for young children, extended outpatient clinic hours and postpartum home visits – providing tailored and convenient healthcare solutions for residents.

The order-based contracting, such as the new "diabetes management package," offers personalized services like blood glucose monitoring and medication guidance, benefiting nearly 1,000 residents.

Additionally, extended clinic hours, evening clinics and convenient services have improved access to healthcare for those with time constraints.

Postpartum home visits ensure continued care and support for new mothers and their newborns. In addition, medical teams conduct voluntary rounds in villages, schools and in enterprises – broadening the scope of healthcare services and facilitating early detection and screening for various medical conditions.
