This year, Jiangyan Equipment Park has reinforced enterprises' roles as innovation leaders through policy guidance and financial support, driving deeper integration of technological and industrial innovation.
The park has expanded its high-tech enterprise base to 42 companies and secured over 130 authorized invention patents in the past three years. Focusing on key and common technologies in the oil and gas equipment and auto parts sectors, it has facilitated technical matchmaking events with universities and research institutes, promoted joint R&D and testing centers, and advanced 20 industry–academia–research projects over the past three years. Platforms such as academicians' workstations and key laboratories have also been leveraged to attract provincial and municipal innovation talent projects, while partnerships with universities have created student entrepreneurship and internship bases.
A notable breakthrough came from the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory for Offshore Oil and Gas Drilling Equipment, jointly built by Jiangsu Shuguang Energy Equipment & Tools Co and China University of Petroleum (East China). Researchers there increased the corrosion and high-temperature resistance of drill pipe joints by fifty percent, addressing a long-standing industry challenge. The lab ensures all Shuguang products undergo strict performance testing, supporting the company's diverse portfolio of over 100 products. Working with Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Li Helin, Shuguang has adopted an "enterprise-led + university-backed + academician-guided" innovation model, enabling it to undertake 21 major national and provincial projects and boost production line output by over 20 percent year-on-year.
The park allocates around 5 million yuan ($696,202.03) annually in subsidies for equipment upgrades, talent recruitment, and innovation. Benefiting from this support, Jiangsu Henggao Electric Manufacturing Co was able to successfully develop its rigid gas-insulated transmission line laboratory into a municipal key project. Specializing in ultra-high-voltage transmission lines, Henggao's flagship disc insulators can stabilize conductors above 1,000 kV, with a newly developed model reaching 1,500 kV — used in research settings and produced by only two or three manufacturers nationwide.
