A joint research team, composed of the China Small and Medium-Sized Cities Development Index Research Team and the Guoxin Small and Medium-Sized Cities Index Research Institute, recently published the 2025 rankings of China's Top 1,000 towns. Among the listed towns, three from Jiangyan district are included.
Zhangdian town ranked 546th, followed by Baimi town at 669th and Qintong town at 803rd.
The comprehensive index evaluates towns across five main indicators — economic development, innovation, growth potential, ecological livability, and quality of life — supported by 26 secondary indicators. As leaders in town-level economic development, the Top 1,000 towns serve as benchmarks and models for other regions.
