The Cao Jun Art Museum opened its doors on Oct 22 in Jiangyan district, Taizhou, marking both a major addition to the region's cultural landscape and a new chapter in its commitment to promoting the arts.

Internationally renowned artist Cao Jun, a native of Jiangyan, attended the opening ceremony and gave a heartfelt speech about his artistic journey and deep ties to his hometown. He called the museum's establishment a long-held dream and hopes it will connect Jiangyan to the global art community — a place where visitors can enjoy the unique cultural appeal of Jiangnan's water towns through art.

After the unveiling ceremony, guests toured the new museum, which features a wide collection of Cao's signature works across various genres, including landscapes, flowers and birds, and portraits.

His landscape paintings feature gentle brushwork illustrating peaceful bridges, flowing streams, and whitewashed walls of Jiangyan's water towns, capturing the misty charm of Jiangnan. Some works incorporate light and shadow techniques inspired by Western oil painting, enriching the depth and visual impact of traditional Chinese ink scenes.

Cao's flower-and-bird paintings feature realistic images of lotus blossoms and azaleas, highlighted by intricate details and sophisticated color schemes that merge timeless elegance with contemporary vibrancy.

The opening of the Cao Jun Art Museum represents Jiangyan's ongoing dedication to celebrating local heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism. Situated in the Guluotang Scenic Area, the museum is poised to become a new cultural landmark, providing residents and visitors with an inspiring space to enjoy art and delve into the essence of Jiangnan's water-town culture.
