Jiangyan releases government work report

The fifth session of Jiangyan's 16th People's Congress convened on Jan 13, at which time the district's government work report for 2025 was presented.

In 2025, Jiangyan saw its gross regional product (GRP) climb 5.5 percent. For the first time, industrial sales crossed the 100-billion-yuan ($14.36 billion) threshold. General public budget revenue saw a 3 percent uptick.

Jiangyan boasts 707 industrial enterprises above designated size and 140 enterprises with annual revenue exceeding 100 million yuan. The district added 82 provincial-level specialized and high-end enterprises during the year.

In terms of project development, Jiangyan signed, initiated construction on, and finished 160, 100, and 60 projects, respectively, each with an investment of over 100 million yuan.

Throughout 2025, Jiangyan carried out 31 key provincial agricultural and rural projects. Additionally, it established three characteristic agricultural demonstration projects, three traditional villages, six green and picturesque villages, and 17 livable and harmonious villages, all at the provincial level.

The district experienced a 27.2 percent increase in tourist visits and a 48.6 percent rise in tourism revenue over the course of 2025.

The year 2025 represents the concluding chapter of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25). Over the past five years, the district's GRP at comparable prices has grown by an average of 6.6 percent annually, surpassing three 100-billion-yuan milestones and increasing its share of the city's total to 14 percent.

Looking ahead to 2026, Jiangyan has set ambitious goals for its economic and social development. GRP is expected to rise by more than 5 percent, with general public budget revenue set to increase by at least 2.5 percent. The fixed asset investment will grow by 5 percent and total retail sales of consumer goods will climb 3.5 percent.
