In recent years, Jiangyan, embracing the idea that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", has built a comprehensive network to protect its biodiversity, with 7.58 square kilometers of ecological protection redlines and 113.73 sq km of controlled ecological spaces.
Jiangyan has also invested nearly 1 billion yuan ($147.43 million) in a wetland restoration project for the Qinhu Lake. By converting fish ponds and farmland back into wetlands and rebuilding marsh wetlands, it has restored a total of 588.6 hectares of wetland area.

Qinhu Lake Wetland is now home to more than 600 species of plants and animals. Every year, over 100,000 migratory birds come here to spend the winter, and extremely rare species like the oriental stork are frequently spotted. As an ideal natural habitat for milu deer, it has seen the local population grow from just four in 1996 to over 160 today.
Jiangyan is also working hard to turn its natural resources into economic benefits. In 2025 alone, the Qinhu Lake Bay Tourism Resort welcomed 4.33 million visitors and generated a total tourism income of 2.54 billion yuan.
