The Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced that Jiangduo strawberries from Jiangyan district had been included in a catalogue of National Famous, Special, Excellent and New Agricultural Products.
With this latest addition, Jiangyan district now boasts six products on the national list, ranking first among all county-level cities and districts in Taizhou.
Jiangduo strawberry is a signature agricultural product of Jiangyan, grown in Jiangduo town. According to quality testing, the strawberries feature a well-balanced sweet-and-tart flavor, while their vitamin C and anthocyanin contents are particularly notable.
Known far and wide as a "town of strawberries", Jiangduo currently has around 1,600 mu (106.67 hectares) of strawberry plantations, producing more than 2,100 metric tons of fresh fruit annually.
Behind the growing reputation of Jiangduo strawberries is a production system built around standardization, green development and premium quality. The strawberries have received multiple provincial- and municipal-level honors and have entered high-end retail chains including Sam's Club, Freshippo and Metro, further boosting their market recognition and reputation.
In 2024, the total output value of the strawberry industry in Jiangduo town exceeded 150 million yuan ($22.35 million).
