Jiangyan Port handled 2,621 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of domestic containers in August, up nearly 25 percent from 2,102 TEUs a year earlier.
The growth was driven by efforts to better meet the logistics needs of local manufacturers and businesses.
The port optimized domestic shipping routes for major cargoes such as steel, construction materials and agricultural products, while working with shipping companies to ensure container availability and improve transport efficiency.
The port also expanded its services for small and medium-sized cargo owners by offering tailored logistics solutions for small-volume, high-frequency shipments and tapping into cargo sources from nearby cities and counties.
Another area of growth was the port's bulk-to-container operations, a separate business that saw its volume more than double year-on-year. The port handled 155 TEUs through such operations in August, up 103.95 percent year-on-year. By optimizing loading procedures, it cut the average time required to load a container from 100 minutes to 30 minutes, significantly improving operational efficiency.
