With the first ship unloader with a deadweight of 1,200 metric tons successfully completing its installation on Dec 8, the Shenzhen International Smart Logistics Port – based in Jingjiang, a county-level city administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – has made a great stride towards becoming a modern bulk-cargo logistics hub, local media reported.

The rated efficiency of the ship unloader reaches up to 1,800 tons per hour. This makes it the largest grab ship unloader along the Yangtze River, in terms of both size and weight, with the highest efficiency.

The total investment for it by the Shenzhen International Smart Logistics Port Project amounts to 2.28 billion yuan, with an annual planned capital input of 1.3 billion yuan.

Two 100,000-ton wharf berths – equipped with intelligent loading, unloading and transportation systems – will also be built there. These will help make it a world-class bulk-cargo logistics hub that is green, eco-friendly, intelligent and energy efficient. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

Huang Xiaogang, general manager of Shenzhen International Ports Development Co Ltd, said the ship unloader is equipped with an independently developed high-precision measuring bucket with the measuring accuracy able to reach five thousandths.

"While stepping up the building of the project, we are also making preparations for the project's operation," Huang said.

"In the process of the project's implementation, we got a one-stop service provided by the development zone, especially in the application for the power supply," he said.

"The development zone gave us strong support to respond to and solve our urgent problems in a timely manner".
