Jingjiang city begins two sessions

The second session of the 14th Jingjiang Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, or CPPCC, kicked off on Jan 2 in Jingjiang – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province.

Members of the CPPCC have presented proposals in a number of areas – including those directly related to people's everyday lives and social development – such as the protection of women and children's rights and interests.

The second session of the 17th People's Congress of Jingjiang kicked off on Jan 3 in the city, during which the government work report was released.

According to the report, Jingjiang's economy has enjoyed sound development. The GDP in 2022 was projected to reach 120 billion yuan ($17.37 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6 percent.

In 2022, Jingjiang ranked 21st among China's top 100 manufacturing counties, with its key sector experiencing high-quality development.

In particular, the proportion of organic and high-quality agricultural products increased to 78 percent and the value of total imports and exports reached $4 billion, up 13.6 percent year-on-year.

In addition, people's general well-being, the business environment, as well as the protection and conservation of the ecosystem and environment, continued to improve in the area.

Moving forwards, the city will strive to achieve an 8 percent annual growth rate in GDP. Efforts will be made to boost the real economy, rural vitalization and to build a livable, resilient and smart city.
