The port cargo throughput of Jingjiang Port in Jingjiang city – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – hit a record 240 million metric tons in 2022, according to the transport bureau of Jingjiang city.

The cargo it handled accounted for 65.7 percent of the total throughput of Taizhou Port, continuing to rank it first in Taizhou city.

Of that, the cargo throughput of ports along the Yangtze River was 237.42 million tons, up 2.35 percent year-on-year and the cargo throughput of inland ports was 3.01 million tons, a 24.2 percent year-on-year increase.

Mining and construction materials, coal and its products as well as metal ores are the main cargo types along the river ports of Jingjiang. They  accounted for 33.5 percent, 26.9 percent, 24.4 percent of the cargo throughput along the river ports last year, respectively.

The increase was mainly due to the significant growth of waterway freight during the COVID-19 epidemic, the comprehensive banning of illegal barging on the Yangtze River and the advantages of utilizing specialized sand and gravel terminals.

Moving forwards, plans are for Jingjiang Port to continue to promote the integration of its facilities, actively attract high-quality port projects and extend its logistics industry supply chain to boost its development.
