Jingjiang finds solution for straw disposal

Jingjiang city in East China's Jiangsu province has found a solution for raw straw disposal, which had previously been a major problem for local farmers.

Farmers had traditionally burned straw after the harvest season in China, which has been banned for years in many places including Jingjiang due to the air pollution it produces.

The new solution is a project that involves the creation of a straw processing facility that collects and processes 7-9 tons of straw per hour. This project only costs 700,000 yuan ($98,389.67) and covers 3 mu (0.2 hectares) in Guangfu village of Xieqiao town.

The facility uses a shredder to crush the straw, and the crushed straw can be used as fuel, while the organic fertilizer that is produced can be used for secondary agricultural production.

This project is the first of its kind in Jingjiang city, and it will fully satisfy the processing needs of nearby farmers, thereby alleviating a major burden on them.

This new solution will also promote the development of a green ecological cycle in several agricultural industry chains, which will further strengthen the city's commitment to environmental protection.

Moving forwards, plans are for Jingjiang city to promote the comprehensive utilization of straw by establishing a scalable and sustainable crop straw resource utilization development model.
