The 4th Chinese Soup Dumplings and Food Culture Festival was held in Jingjiang city – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – on Oct 3-5.

Han Ming, head of the China Hospitality Association, said at the launch ceremony that from January to September, revenue from the nation's catering sector totaled 3.7 trillion yuan ($508.11 billion), an increase of 18.7 percent on the previous corresponding period.

Revenue generated by accommodation and catering services during the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday increased by 25.5 percent year-on-year, according to Han.

He added the association had worked with Jingjiang city for four consecutive years to hold the soup dumplings festival and the aim was to boost the popularity, reputation and influence of Jingjiang soup dumplings.

Representatives from Ansbach in Germany and Yongshou county in Shaanxi province – both sister cities of Jingjiang – were in attendance.
