Jingjiang city – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is taking steps to improve its water environment and promote high-quality development through rural river governance.
Four ecological river projects have been launched near Xinqiao town. One of them, the greening of Xinchuanxin port in Xinqiao town, began in early November. Workers are currently busy spreading grass seeds on the slopes to create a greener river port.

The port, which stretches 7.3 kilometers, is located south of the Yangtze River and north of Shengci town. During construction, efforts have been made to preserve the river's natural ecology by retaining reed bushes along the port.
The project emphasizes greening and landscape optimization to provide long-term maintenance and benefits for locals.
Improving the rural water environment and implementing the rural revitalization strategy are being accomplished through the promotion of rural ecological river conservation and development.
To ensure the sustainable management of its water bodies, Xinqiao town has also implemented a River Chief System. This involves a network of leading officials responsible for overseeing the conditions of specific bodies of water.
Implementation of this system is said to have led to the removal of unauthorized building work along the Yangtze River, as well as the remediation efforts for polluted water bodies and the greening of riverbank slopes.
