The purpose was to honor those who had made outstanding contributions to community safety.

Top officials of Taizhou, including the city's Party Secretary Zhu Lifan, attended the event. Prior to the proceedings, Zhu met with the nominees and the representatives and took a group photo with them.

The recipients of the awards were said to have demonstrated dedication, courage and a strong sense of responsibility in their roles within the public security system.

One of them, Tang Weizhou, deputy director of Chengdong police station in Jingjiang city – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city – has served 11 years, investigated over 600 cases, arrested 500 suspects and recovered millions of yuan in economic losses.

He is widely said to have played a crucial role in a case that resulted in the recovery of over 3 million yuan ($419,775) for a victim.

Another recipient, Xi Guilin, an auxiliary police officer at Gulou police station in Taixing city – a county-level city under Taizhou's jurisdiction – reportedly displayed exceptional courage when saving the life of someone who fell into the water.

Yet another, Wu Jian – an auxiliary police officer at the Hailing branch of the Taizhou public security bureau – has served for 14 years. She's contributed significantly to solving over 450 cases and arresting 270 suspects. She has also assisted in locating lost individuals and property multiple times.

The food, drug and environmental investigation brigade of the Xinghua city public security bureau, meanwhile, also received recognition. It's actively combated environmental pollution crimes.

The brigade has investigated 11 spice-related crimes, eight pollution-related cases, dismantled nine criminal gangs and shut down 17 crime dens. The total amount of money involved in these cases exceeded 50 million yuan.
