The Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone's intensified efforts to accelerate the implementation of major projects is widely said to be playing a key role in stabilizing investment and supporting high-quality growth.

The zone is located in Jingjiang city – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province.

The zone signed up 54 new projects over the past year, each exceeding 500 million yuan ($70.3 million) and attracted total investment of 51.28 billion yuan.

Special service teams have been launched to ensure the progress of major projects, including an 8.39-billion-yuan power plant and a $300 million smart logistics center.

Some 25 new projects broke ground and 19 were completed in 2023.

The efforts paid dividends, after the Ministry of Commerce included the zone on its list of China's top 100 development zones for its high-quality growth last year.

Its ranking rose to 98th, 12 places higher than the previous year. It also marked the zone's debut on the Top 100 list.

Six of the zone's industrial projects have been identified as major provincial projects by Jiangsu's development and reform commission.

Moving forwards, plans are for the zone to focus on traditional and competitive industries such as shipbuilding, machining and manufacturing, grain and oil processing and trade.

What's more, it will leverage the leading role of backbone enterprises in market resource allocations, said Sun Hao, director of the zone's investment promotions bureau.

Overall, it will move to attract those high value-added projects that can help boost industrial chain supply and accurately associate with leading enterprises, Sun added.
