The domestic cargo throughput of Jingjiang Port was close to 240 million tons, accounting for 93.8 percent of trade. Meanwhile, its foreign cargo throughput accounted for 6.2 percent – with a growth rate reaching 40 percent, showing a strong development momentum.

Jiangsu Yangtze River Port Co Ltd is currently handling the most cargo in Jingjiang Port, with throughput of 38.86 million tons last year.

Liu Ning, its deputy general manager, said that in 2024 it would fully launch its process-oriented technological transformation, undertake more levels of competition and encourage the port to move towards a smarter and more efficient direction to form a new growth phase.

At Jingjiang Taihe Port Terminal, Xu Yucheng, the executive vice president, said that with the country's liberalization of imported coal, it imported more than 1 million tons last year, an increase of about 50 percent compared with previous years.

As an important transit port in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River for river-sea intermodal transportation, Jingjiang Port is the first county-level billion-ton port north of the Yangtze River.
