The town of Xilai in Jingjiang – a county-level city administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has spared no effort in developing new quality productive forces to boost its economy.
That's through it giving full play to the role of local backbone enterprises since the beginning of this year.
A group of leading companies in the town have made strides in branches of the high-tech sector. Jiangsu Sanjiang Electric Group Co Ltd, a small electrical machine manufacturer in Xilai town, for one, is accelerating the pace of its innovative growth.
The company is researching and developing key and core technologies. That's in a bid to upgrade its products that are characterized by high-end, intelligent and eco-friendly features, as well as expanding its supply chain and market share, according to assistant general manager Xiong Feng.
An electric motor that it developed for Chinese home appliances giant Haier Group's latest dual-rotor clothes dryer, is said to be the first of its kind in the world. The company is applying for an invention patent for the new motor.
The innovative product is understood to have helped the company stay ahead in the traditional motors field. It is expected to generate sales of 150,000 units in 2024 and orders are projected to hit 1.2 million units next year.

Elsewhere, at the premises of Jiangsu Jingjiang Transformer Co Ltd, another high-tech enterprise in Xilai, automated machines are running smoothly.
The smart workshop started operating in January. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and the internet of things, it has helped the company to reduce labor costs by 20 percent and further improved its productivity.
