The taro exposition park in Shengci town, Jingjiang, a county-level city in Taizhou, has introduced potted taros after three months of focused development.
Led by the Jingjiang Modern Agricultural Industrial Park, the expo park has cultivated over 20 varieties of taro, which can serve as both edible vegetables and ornamental plants, in a nearly 150-square-meter intelligent greenhouse.
According to Zhang Jian, a staff member of the Shengci town government, when a potted taro matures, its corm can be harvested for cooking, while the remaining withered plant with seeds can produce new fruit in the following year.
Plans are underway to design exquisite pots and decorations to enhance the ornamental value of the plant.
Shengci town intends to promote the taro industry, extend its industrial chain, and develop the industry into a local highlight in agricultural produce and rural tourism, contributing to the broader goals of rural vitalization and agricultural modernization.
