Jingcheng sub-district in Jingjiang, a county-level city in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, is steadfastly progressing with developing high-standard farmland at the beginning of 2025.
Due to influences such as road planning and urban development, the farmlands in the Jingcheng sub-district are unable to be interconnected across larger areas. This also hinders the high-quality development of local agriculture.
Therefore, the sub-district embarked on its first period of high-standard farmland construction project in 2024. Through measures such as relocation of graves, integration of scattered farmlands, and upgrading of water systems, the agricultural infrastructure has seen a steady and ongoing improvement.
Over the past year, the project covered over 3000 mu (200 hectares) of farmlands. It has included the construction of 5.61 kilometers of roads suitable for agricultural vehicles and establishing eight new irrigation stations. As of the end of 2024, it is 95 percent complete, with full completion anticipated by January 2025.
